in an online gathering November 3rd – 7th, 2021

to celebrate the

Love and Justice Ministries of The United Church of Canada

The United Church of Canada’s Church in Mission Unit is planning an online gathering to lift up opportunities for United Church people and communities to ENGAGE! in the many and diverse ministries of love and justice of the church. It’s essential that the event foreground the life, work, witness and discipleship of United Church of Canada global partners.

The ENGAGE! Love and Justice gathering will move through 5 daily themes, with worship, keynote speakers, workshops, and interactive booths. The event will use the Whova online event platform accessible by desktop, laptop, or mobile device. The daily themes are:

Engage deep spirituality
Engage daring justice
Engage courageous community
Engage bold discipleship
Engage hope

To participate:

  1. Register and receive information:

Register at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/the-united-church-of-canada/events/engage-love-and-justice-ministries-of-the-united-church-of-canada/

  1. Set up a Whova “booth”.

ALL United Church global partners and Regional councils are invited to set up Whova virtual booth.  A “booth” is an online space that can hold a brief description of your organization’s mission and ministry, and share photos, video, presentations, or handouts that event participants can access when they “enter” the online booth.

Whova booths will be visible to all attendees throughout the event, and look like the image below. Attendees will have the opportunity to leave chat messages with your organization at the booth. We recommend that someone from your organization checks in to the booth once per day during the event to see what chats have happened and respond, if able.

To set up a booth, please input your information into the form linked here: https://unitedchurch.formstack.com/forms/boothenglish

If you have any questions about setting up a booth, please email edge@united-church.ca. A United Church staff person will be in contact to guide you through the process to become a Whova “Exhibitor.”

  1. Join us!

To ENGAGE! Love and Justice worship, keynotes, workshops and to visit other booths.

Follow-up and Timelines

This communication will be followed up shortly with another contact from a colleague in the UCCanada’s Global Partnership staff team.   Please let them know by October 8 if you would like to set up a booth.  Organizers ask that the material for booths be uploaded by October 20.

We look forward to gathering to worship, learn, build community, and recognize who and

whose we are.  Let us celebrate and ENGAGE Love and Justice!

Peace,

Japhet Ndhlovu
Executive Minister – Church in Mission

We sing of God’s good news lived out,
a church with purpose:
faith nurtured and hearts comforted,
gifts shared for the good of all,
resistance to the forces that exploit and marginalize,
fierce love in the face of violence,
human dignity defended,
members of a community held and inspired by God,
corrected and comforted,
instrument of the loving Spirit of Christ,
creation’s mending.
We sing of God’s mission.
